Allergy Helpers

Allergy Helpers:  Try these ideas in order.

1)  Change litters – the sandier the litter, the more allergic people become.  Let’s face it, the cat gets into the litterbox, then kicks the litter all over in order to cover their “mess”.  The litter gets into their fur, then they lay down on you!  It’s a wonder more of us don’t sneeze!

There are now litters made of recycled newspaper, a saw-dust like pellet and non-scoopable – which has very little dust.

The only one I would stay away from is the “scoopable” clay litter – it is an ecological disaster and is difficult to work with.

2)  Nutro cat food (some cats are allergic to the less nutritious cat foods – Nutro helps with their coat and allows less shedding).  Hands down – the best food out there for allergies.

3)  Add a teaspoon of olive oil onto your cat’s wet food once a day at feeding – Just like us, it helps with skin and good health!

4)  Oxymed soothing cat wipes or Simple Solution Allergy Relief (moistened cloths)

5)  Lambert Kay Shed Relief or Linatone Shed Relief

6)  Check the internet for additional information – there are plenty of supplements sold which are administered to the cat, not just the person to help with pet dander.  Here is a small sample of the things you can learn about cutting down on dander problems:

Air purifiers will help to eliminate airborne dander.

Bathe your pet frequently. This will help to reduce airborne pet dander. There are many types of special pet shampoos to help with pet dander.

Clean your pets litter box, cage, etc. on a regular basis. It will also help to keep the litter box or cage away from the allergy sufferer.

Wash your hands and skin often.  This will wash off any dander from your pet that may have gotten on your skin.

Where possible, use flat surfaced flooring.  Many carpets tend to attract pet dander.  A smooth surfaced floor will make dander clean up much simpler.

Vacuum regularly with a filter type vacuum.

Examine your wardrobe. Woolen clothing will attract more pet dander than a freshly-washed cotton T-shirt.

So, check the internet for many more ideas!!!!
